RALEIGH, N.C. – The North Carolina Supreme Court has granted a stay to keep a state law that bans sex offenders from using social networking websites in effect.
Attorney General Roy Cooper requested the stay after a Court of Appeals ruling last week ruled the law unconstitutional because it is vague and violates free speech. Full Article
North Carolina, where democracy is on life support. This ruling doesn’t surprise me, but they will lose this battle, too.
Fearful stupidity based on ZERO facts for support just like the sex offender registry itself.
One more punishment they can pile on RSOs.
Nothing more than punishment and clearly unconstitutional.
How long can this illegal “stay remain in effect. Maybe Roy Cooper never files an appeal and it just stays a law. Roy Cooper needs to step down out of office for violating his Oath to uphold the US Constitution which applies to all US Citizens. He should be prosecuted for willfully and knowingly supporting and enforcing laws he knows are Unconstitutional. I will be challenging one of these laws and after I win that battle I’m going after the people who made these laws.their free ride on the political make people feel good for votes ride is coming to an end.I to took an oath when I went into to serve my country to up hold the US Constitution against all enemy’s foreign and domestic. This Domestic enemy is much worse then the Iraqi force I fought against. I will take this fight to the court room or anywhere else it needs to be fought. I’m not laying down anymore! Living like this makes dying for a change not such a bad thing. I urge everyone else whether registered as sex offender or not to stand up for your rights and the rights of others. What they do to me today they will do to you tomorrow.
This is a symbolic act to calm parents’ fears of children being online and open the door for corporate to target younger and younger children. Much like the real danger to children is right in their homes and in their parents’ vehicles on the highways, the imminent danger to children is exposing them to the corporate predators who wish to groom them into little adult consumers, molding their behavior to fit the new world order of marginalization and social insecurity. I have no problem with keeping those who have demonstrated (and I mean hard evidence, not intuitive assumptions) abuses of children on the internet, but this must include all those who profit at the child’s expense.
